TABLE TOP FRAMES

These frames are created entirely by John Fralin as small works of art. They come with UV filter glazing, rag mats and supports. They are available ready-made with easel backs in two sizes: 5" x 7" & 8" x 10". Custom-made frames of any size are available upon request.

Inspired by nature, these beautiful hand painted frames breathe with the crisp colors of the four seasons. The process for these unique finishes is one of Fralin's own devising. Using gesso as a ground with lacquer, wax, Japan colors, dye, a host of incompatible chemicals, metal powders and a lot of time, Fralin engages the process of painting for days and sometimes weeks at a time. Some frames have 10 layers; some have as many as 30. The edition is done only when each frame is satisfying. These painting sessions will yield anywhere from 10 to 80 frames.
